Dear All

Well things went very well for us- see below for the prize haul!
Image

despite being in the wrong race with the sportscars in our respective classes we did fine! Sarel drove the socks off Butch my Camaro - and at times I too had my moments..................
Butch ran faultlesly my thanks to the excellent race preparation of Scott Racing- well done guys!

We got a first overall in the enduro race in class across both race meetings- the key prize and managed to finish 8 at the end of the Kyalami Enduro behind a set of hot kit cars GT40s and Daytona Coupe replicas (with the exception of 1 Chevrolet Corvette GS) - so we were certainly the first 4 seater and you could say the 2 "dare I say real" car home!
despite running out of fuel- well in fact it was a blown fuse in fuel pump- I did just enough laps to clinch a 2 in that TransAm race- and I got a 3 in the TransAm race at Zwartkops the previous weekend!
some random pictures:
Daytona winning superstar loved Butch!

Busy Pits/garage!

this is the REAL DEAL- this is the actual Alan Mann GT40 the SA GT40s were all kit cars
sadly failed to finish the second enduro with blown gearbox

Sadly the Kyalami meeting was marred by the deaths of 2 motorbike racers in separate incidents.

We will be back though!
I then picked up a 2 and a 3 in TransAm races

The Dutch Maestro Jan Lammers broke the lap record in Bennetton F1 car (ex Schumacher)

But that track was unbelieveable- one of the all time great circuits ever
Sarel and I had a really great time- over the course of the Enduro we completely destroyed my Hoosiers- and not much left on the Toyos 888Rs either.

I know that you know that the BMW 735i of the 80's has a lot of camaro about it-
Check out this clean example to see what I mean!

I see we certainly got a mention!:

Congratulations and well done! Sounds like a very enjoyable track to race at. I am jealous but it's all I can do to get out a few times in the UK with my slow old Ford thing.
Very sad to hear of the bike racers, I ride and always feel acutely aware of how vulnerable I am.
Hope to see you and Butch in action at some point if you are racing in the UK this year.
Again, well done!
Cheers, Martin

Hi
There is simply no comparison between racing around empty stands at Brands Hatch with Bernie's lot vs the buzz and atmosphere of racing in front of 25,000 spectators (at Zwartkops)- Bernie incidentally didn't even make it!-

So I really do not know...................?

And for track time the SA races are FAR Cheaper-(since I have to be in SA at this time in any event and those appropriate costs I am able to defer).
Have lots of in car clips- but it was all televised and they send through a DVD later- will see what can be done with it!
