I think just more banter and encouragement for people to join in and share experiences camaro or related or sven anythjng else like the custom guitar paint threads. ...
Some people will always be more happy to lurk and enjoy the forum that way than participate though..

Hi Guys,

Sorry havn't been about much lately, will fill you in on that a bit later.

I had a chat with Nige the other day and a couple of things may be of help for the forum/club.

First off my mate Dave Woodfield organises a show once a year at Stotfold on the Herts/Beds border (about 1 mile off the A1M, approx 5 miles south of Old Warden or 7 miles north of Stevenage/Knebworth). After speaking to Dave he is more than happy for you guys to tag on to his show. His show is completely free with more than ample parking on the village green. Generally his show will have around 200ish vehicles of interest from stock American and British Classics through to Hot Rods, Street Rods and Customs, with a few Classic and Custom motorbikes etc. The local pub is onboard with an outside bar and barbeque. Dave always books a couple of bands for the live entertainment to help give it that party atmosphere. If this is likely to be of interest to forum/club i will get the details dates etc and post them up.

With regards to the forum, trying to make sure as many members as possible reply to new people as soon as they sign up to the forum so as they feel it is a friendly place and they are included from the off, i know this may sound daft but i think it does make a difference. As an example i joined a hot rod forum over a week ago and did a reasonable introduction about myself with a few pics of my cars, this forum has got 122,000+ members and guess what.........not one reply, pretty poor show in my book.

This probably also sounds daft but another forum i go on has got 30 members, it has what they call a "Daily Greets" section, it is expected that the first person to log on to the forum each day starts a new thread with that days date and does a short post. The post could be as trivial as "Morning guys, can't work on the car today as it is pissing down with rain here" or "The mrs has taken the kids out for the day so i have got some quality garage time". Load of bollox really but it does get people into the habit of posting and they do get some good threads on there which are interesting. As i say only 30 members but without fail at least 50 posts per day quite often a lot more.

Some food for thought.

Cheers.

Russ.

NOW......... Just a thought....... Don't shoot me. Has any thought ever been given to prehaps dropping the word Classic from the club name? Just a thought as that may give the wrong impression to passing punters. :?:

Hi, yes things are moving along with quite a bit going on "behind the scenes", with Topcat, Ray & myself in contact pretty much on a daily basis at the moment sorting through things. I have draft emails to send out to the magazines to make them aware of the club/forum. We're looking into club T shirts, modifying/adding some forum sections etc etc. We've already secured additional bandwidth & are looking to reduce costs for keeping the place running, plus quite a bit of other stuff. As soon as it's sorted we'll post up the news

cheers...Nige
