Top Cat is right, this club is only free because he pays to support the cost and others help out with their contributions.

We are spread across the UK and have differing preferences some want a static show and some want a racing event. So we need to see where people want to be with this.

Personally I don't want to race -I use my car for holiday travel and will do a couple of thousand miles just for a holiday in Europe so I need reliability - but happy to go to shows to meet up.

I now rest.

I said before I'm happy to chip in with costs. Alot of forums like ScoobyNet has a two tier forum where there are subscibers who pay to get access to all of the forum. Then the free members who are restricted. Worth contemplating ?

I think a greater emphasis on location might work. Such as choose an existing event in an area and see whos is up for attending it.

I'm away working till mud Jan with limited phone web access, so forgive any weirdness or misspelling..

Having been member on s few car forums they often operate with advertisibg to cover some basic hosting costs.. also how about keepibg basic forum access free but maybe offer a membership of say £ 20 which gives access to a more extensive area with proper member run technical forum and library, classified ads, etc..

Regards meets, it's going to be hard to keep everyone happy. Some like static shows, some drag race/rwyb, some trackdays. .. plus add the location spread of members and reckon mini meets ar a better option with bigger events if enough numbers. .

All good ideas, I spoke with Ray (78 Camaro) about the server probs before Xmas & there may be ways around that. I think he's out of the country at the moment, but have left him a message so's I can talk with him further about it. ;). I'm not sure a separate paid for part of the forum would work at this stage, as the forum's not really that busy anyway, would you be prepared to pay for extra use?

cheers...Nige

It´s good to see this topic raised again, it is hard to please everybody I agree and it´s difficult to get to meet people. Billy Bob arranged a meet last year at Billing but only a few turned up and the weather done it´s best to stop it altogeather. I have met up with a few people over the last year and I have handed out dozen´s of cards about the club and maybe some of them joined I don´t know but I am willing to do what I can to help the club. I am prepared to do a round trip of say 150 miles to meet up. About the cost of the forum, I wasn´t aware there was one but to raise 45 pounds can´t be that hard can it?. If we charged 1 pound at registration I don´t think it would put people off if they were real enthusiast´s and I´m sure all the regulars wouldn´t mind chipping in to get it started. How much do you want?
