yeah all 98 cars (facelift) onwards have 1,2,D and boxed D. Ie 1,2,3,4+overdrive
the overdrive is automatic
drive in 1 then shift to 2, count the shift, then put in D when at about 50 mph or so, this should go into 3rd, then shift to boxed D and you will get 4th and then the rev reduction I discussed pretty soon after.
Check the door jam codes for GU2, GU5 or GU6 or something.
2300 is high for 70mph unless you have a 3.42 gear. My 3.23 is a 70 at 2000 rpm
