Interesting way of avoiding having to add an independant swirl pot. Hoping to do fuel injection on mine one day to get rid of the off idle bog, and add a bit more round town/cruising economy. I've got a spare tank too, and that was one of the things that bothered me, as the rest of it is just stuff on the motor.

Is that really enough baffling effect with the 2 holes to keep the petrol over the outlet ?

Well, I certainly hope so. If it doesn't work I'll end up with a seperate swirl pot anyway.

The capacity of the little sump is about 850cc. My injectors are 400cc/min @ 100% duty cycle, so max of 3200cc/min @ 100%. You normally run injectors at a max of 80% (which is enough for about 450bhp on my set up). So thats 2560cc/min at full rpm. So it'd take 20secs to empty the swirl pot, if it wasn't getting filled up again. Most of the time it would be unless the tank was almost completely empty. I might well return the fuel to the swirl pot as well, which would help keeping it full as well.

Cant think of many high G situations over 20secs.

Could have made it bigger, but there you go

Finished the fuel tank modifications tonight.

Cut the old fuel gauge retaining ring off and turned up a ring from 1/8" plate to fit in the recess on the top of the tank. Drilled and tapped it, then welded it on. Shortened the new sender unit so it should leave me a gallon or 2 when the gauge reads empty.

Just got to pressure test it now, a job for the weekend.

Gorgeous weather here for the past few days. Spent today at the European Drag Racing finals at Santa Pod. Some new PB's set and close to some records on a few runs.

Friday I applied Dinitrol Cavity and Underbody wax to the bottom of the car. Wanted to do this at this early stage as its a messy job, and its easier to get it into everywhere when there's nothing in the way.

Yesterday I got the painting done that I needed to. The firewall is now in finished colour, along with the rest of the steering gear, tank & straps, heater box and a load of other little bits. All painted with 2K satin.

Meant I spent the afternoon putting things together. Going to get my tank installed this week after finishing a couple more little bits off. Then its brake booster and m/c so I can get the rear brake lines in. And then fuel lines, before the SFC's go in.

Thanks, so am I!

Stripped the steering column down today ready for a coat of paint one evening this week. Found out why my indicators only self cancel in one direction too, the little spring is missing. Will see if I can find somethign to work in there.

Also had a quick look at the fuel line and pump plan. Not sure where I am going to put the pump yet as it needs to be gravity fed from the tank. I might fit it on the rear valance tucked behind the tank, if it will fit that is. Its out of the way there too. Need to offer the tank up and see where there's some space.

Ordered some 3/8" and 5/16" kunifer pipe today for the fuel feed and return. I picked up some originals as well to use as a template for bending the new ones up. Means I can do it on the bench, easier than upside down

How about discreet mounting like this:

Subtle :D

Might do something similar but inside the rear panel if there's space 8-)

I've seen them tucked up under the rear valance on a couple of 2nd gens.

Arse, valance is too high up to gravity feed the pump. Thought I'd be clever and weld a plate to the tank straps, but they were rustier than I thought. In a way good I tried as it highlighted the fact I need some new ones!
