Also depends on what the insurer wants to insure. I was told at the weekend that my car was too new for them to insure for more than 3000 miles. So I guess I'll be going elsewhere?

My policy is for a maximum of 4000 miles which is enough for me. A-Plan are the agent but the Insurer is Highway, part of LV.

Frank Pickles, another agent quoted me almost the same and again it was with Highway.

I think one of the biggest critieria seems to be if it's your only car. If you have the use of another car then it seems it dosen't matter that it's a "modern" car and they will insure it under this type of policy. But who knows why the companies are not consistant with the quotes. I'm just pleased I have managed to get it insured for a reasonable amount.

If you have only one car you get NCD, if you have it as your second car you don't. (Don't try to switch it around as that causes issues as well)But there are so many variables you do have to ask around.

Last year my quote was for high end of £300 but then I was covered for 10,000 miles, full comp etc, most of which I needed and it was still the second car with no NCD.

It is a minefield and I hope this chain helps others to know what to enquire about.
