Pretty much any battery of at least 500CCA (ideally nearer to 700) and that will fit in the hole, and with the right terminals. .....

Places like Euro Carparts are often cheap.

Performance suggestion: Relocate the battery to the right-rear corner of the car ( in the trunk ). Weight distribution advantage is gained by doing so. There are many articles published on the subject (google it). This is a cheap way to help your handling.

I've got an Exide Maxxima 750CCA in mine, Great battery. Because the car only gets used intermittently, a deep cycle battery with a decent starting CCA makes the world of difference. Needed to modify the tray a bit and knock up some clamping studs and a bracket, but the difference a good gel battery makes is startling ! A bit more money, but worth it for the longevity and starting power.

In the Trans Am I've got an Odyssey in the trunk, another decent gel battery and still going strong despite various abuse for 4 years, but it's a lighter duty version than the Maxxima because the T/A is stripped and only used for racing and has an efficient hi-torque starter. For road use, I'd go for the Maxxima. Get yourself a C-Tek charger and conditioner too while you're at it and you'll never have a problem again.

I use these guys http://www.tayna.co.uk/Maxima-Batteries-S1240-1.html

cheers,

Andy

Just what I did. I used the Painless relocation kit with large +ve and -ve 0 gauge cables along with a yellow top Opitma with polished ally holder. Thanks to better earth to chassis connections the car operates electrically better than ever!
