More stuff in paint today, needs a top coat of chassis black once the Jotuns dried. Only just sprayed it so will probably do the top coat first thing in the morning. Need to paint the gearbox cross member as well, forgot about it



This morning I made a set of solid body mounts as well, planning on using the poly ones for the core support as I already have them anyway.



So hopefully during next week the subframe can go back on...!

Refitted and aligned the subframe tonight and finished the prep on the axle ready for paint tomorrow evening.

The subframe fitting went really smoothly, a lot easier than expected, and the alignment checked out spot on (checked from rear spring pockets). Solid mounts went in easy too It's good to start putting things back together, even knowing there's some bodywork to finish off.

cant believe that your actually at the part of putting it back together hows the underside of the unibody is it all clean ready for paint?

Yep the underside is all done and painted except for applying the Dinitrol which I'll get done quite soon!

are you gonna make all the "herb adams" i believe he is called 2nd gen frame connectors / supports?

also are you subframe bushes lowered variants?

if so how much?

Yes, I have subframe connectors to go in as well. The subframe bushes I made are standard height, at least the same as the Prothane poly ones I based them on. The lowest people seem to recommend going is 1/2" less than stock.

Putting things back together isn't generally going very well Let alone the weather being crap!

The subframe connectors don't fit, the bushes in the front of the leaf springs need to be modified to fit in the spring perches as well. Probably a sign of the joys yet to come. The most annoying thing about it is everything is meant to fit. Most of its new and I am going to end up cutting it up to make it work. FFS

The subframe connectors hit the floor where the rear footwells are and still have about 1/2" to go before they are seated in the rear spring pockets. And the holes for the bolts for the torque boxes don't line up by about 3/8".





The spring poly bushes need about 1/8" skimming off each side to make them fit for some bizarre reason. They should be 3.5" wide, per standard, but are 3.7"

In good news I got some nice new wheels for a good deal, only done about 200 miles since new. 17x8 for the front and 17x9 for the back with 225 and 255 tyres.

Jealous on the rims looks sweet as cant wait to see them installed on the motor

With your welding skillls, and how much of the car you've replaced, I'd have thought you'd have done your own 'thru the floor' connectors, Ideal way really...

I did think about it, briefly. Then these bolt in's came up for the right price so decided to take that route. I don't really like the idea of essentially welding the front subframe on either, as it could make future repairs tricky.

Started cutting them up last night, but didn't get finished before the rain started again.
