Ooh! '67! The right year, I hate you.
Seriously, loving the car, keep it like it is and just bung in a killer SB with a stick. Sleepers rule. Cheers, Martin

I would run it as a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing but it really is too rusted out, I would get so wet inside the car that I would need a wetsuit.

Nothing works, I mean absolutely nothing, there are no wipers because the upper cowl is more or less missing and the mech is sort of hanging in mid air out of familiarity with the position.

Still, I now have a mint Edelbrock intake and the rear 1/4 window mechs are freed up and now move, even though they are nowhere near the car and are living in a box.

I am aching to start this project properly, I just got two damn great RSJs to make a Jig, I am SO keen to pull this apart and brace it its hurting.

Well I wish you all the best with the car and hope that your energy lasts. Projects like this can be draining - physically, mentally, financially and emotionally. I've done a few and my next one will be an un-restoration project. Maybe a killer engine but no more big resto stuff, just fix what is needed to be strong and safe and fly MOT's. Yeah, I know I'm weird but I'm happy.
Cheers, Martin

Your car looks to be in similar condition to my car

https://www.facebook.com/ProjectNighthawk

A replacement shell you are looking at around $12-15k plus the vat and shipping.

I know someone in the UK that has a Dynacorn 69 shell for sale in the UK for £12k. Might be a good start. You will still need the identity from your old car so might be odd to have a 67 registered car with a 69 shell.

Repair panels wise.. you are looking at around £5k plus the time and labour to fit.

Even with a new body, you still need to spend plenty of time making everything fit and shut nice. Panel gaps etc. They are just thrown together

Drop me a line if you need help/advice as I have a lot of info and contacts from my project. I can also help you ship bulk parts in from the states

Amit

Hi Guys,

The car is not getting a new shell, I decided that a little while ago, to me it would be a kit car and not a Camaro, even if I replace more metal than is left original it is still a camaro and it still went through the GM line in 67, it is not chinese.

I am making a jig, buying a container in the US and having a mate of mine fill it for me, he is in North Carolina right by the coast and the ports so is in a good position to sort this for me.

The guys at CamaroJunction (Rick especially) have been excellent so far, lots of advice and helpful hints, they are aware I am not starting this for a while and am going to be collecting parts before I start it.

Sheetmetal wise it does not scare me, I can tackle any restoration job except body paint, thats only because I lack the booth/oven to get the finish I want, my workshop is not a good place if you want a gloss black car. way too much dust from welding and grinding and sanding.

I might even offer shipping and possibly buy more of some parts for anyone else who is interested. Its handy owning a truck that is designed for containers and also a container yard and the ability to either kepp it and rent it out or sell it to recoup some money.

Amit: I know the guys at Retropower from my other hobby, restoring Opel Mantas, good guys, skilled and excellent work.

Well, It's stripped. And it's in a hell of a state. The body Jig is the first thing that got made, I found all the dimensions for a 67 on the Internet so made a jig up, it's on wheels for now but I have put plates on under the wheels to allow me to bolt the jig to the floor when the time comes to cut the shell up and weld in the new panels.

The list of new panels is going to be big, I knew it would be but I was hoping more was salvagable.

I found some interesting parts during the stripdown, It has a 10 bolt Posi on the back, and also a prop cage, the big Carter Carb and Edelbrock intake have been put away safely, the Rallye wheels have already been blasted and primed ready for the Silver top coat and the front subframe has been steam cleaned in preparation for the strip/re-bush and paint job.

I found some old Drag strip timing slips in the remains of the Glovebox, so it seems the car had some strip time fun "back in the day" I love finding bits of history like this, it makes the car more worthwhile and more interesting.
