Fitted the quarter patches today, ready to strip the paint off the quarters now and give them a coat of epoxy primer. But will save that until I have finished all the repairs off I think.

Ignore the manky paint above the patches, got a bit crispy doing the patches, its all coming off anyway

Next job is fit the new tail panel.

Staying relentless on the car then :)

Doesn't look like you have much left after the quarter panels? What else is on the list? Are you keep it yellow?

Cheers!

Yep, non stop when weather allows.

Think the quarter behind the drivers door needs doing. Then repairs around the rear window. That will see the repairs done to the main shell then just doors etc. I think I am sticking with yellow, hides all manner of little imperfections. Probably going for millenium yellow, current corvette colour.

Still loads to do, having a finished car is just a dream at the moment

Been a bit of a slow weekend really. I didn't get anything done friday afternoon as I had a job interview, and we had high winds and heavy rain. So I spent the afternoon getting soaked trying to tie down the cover on the car!

Yesterday was too windy to do any welding, so I cleaned the front subframe and rear axle up ready for degreasing and paint. Took most of the day, front subframe was caked in underseal, old oil and 30yrs worth of road grime. The 2 rear mount holes need repairing, but I have the repair washers in hand. Planning on painting it with epoxy and a coat of clear to finish it off. Oh and I need to cut the engine mounts off, some muppet's welded them onto the frame!

I also got the new bushes fitted to the wishbones, so they are ready to go back on now. Picked up some new lower ball joints for £5 each courtesy of ebay. Just need some uppers now.

Today I did a few 100 miles picking up parts, got a straight passenger side door to replace my knackered one. Its got some rust in the skin, but the frame is solid. I think I can patch it up, and avoid doing the whole skin. Was expecting just a shell, but its complete with glass etc, so that was a bonus. I also snagged a fibreglass rear bumper, for £10. Brand new as well. More weight saving!

This afternoon I finished the tail panel off. Just need seam sealer and its ready for paint.

Lot of small fiddly bits to do now to finish the body off. I need to remove the torque rods from the trunk hinges. Any pointers?

More excellent progress.... Some proper bargains you're picking up too.

If you're gonna replace the uppers, a great mod is to go for the 'tall' ball joints as it really helps with the steering angle over stock and makes turn in nicer. You can get the pricey Howe rebuildable ones, or some cheaper ones I think.

I'll have to have a look into the taller balljoints. My worry at the moment is whether I'll end up with too much negative camber at the front when I lower it as I dont have offset upper shafts. Will have to see what happens.

Looks like its going to be wet this coming weekend, so will see if I can get the subframe and rear axle painted up in the workshop. Then once I have got the underside of the car painted it can start going back together and I'll have room to move again  :D

Not done much productive this weekend really.

The backplates for the drums were worn through so they had to come off, just as well as the bearing running surface on one of the half shafts is knackered. Looks like I'll need a new one. Bearing itself looks to be OK though.

Spent most of yesterday cleaning the subframe up some more ready for paint. It now just needs a quick rub down and its ready to go. Was going to do it today if it was raining, but it didn't so...

I finished the prep on the floor pan, cleaned the firewall up, fixed the cage for the subframe nut on the drivers side and gave it all a coat of epoxy. Brushed it on underneath as not too worried about the finish. Sprayed the firewall though. Got as far as putting some seam sealer on a few places, and now its ready for another coat, but that will have to wait until next weekend unfortunately. Might spray the second coat on, but will have to jack the car up a bit more to get under there.
