Rearend mocked up with BF Goodrich 315-60-15 tyres on a 10 x 15 rim space is a bit tight! May consider 275 option

Engine with Procharger mocked up will need to adjust position of procharger once  engine is in car.

All I'm saying is it's a big small block.

Will keep you posted.

Cheers Neil,

BHP is unknown at this stage but I'm thinking of getting the engine dynoed.

Will be happy with running 9's over the quarter mile

Jay

its actually refreshing people doing this kind of work to 4th gens and not sticking with the old stuff.

what made you go old school engine though ? is that what you know or had the engine and running gear already, as appose to building the LT motor ?

Thanks MaudyZ28 and Chevy-stu for the comments.

Theres still alot of work to do. Would like it ready for mid 2013 all taxed & tested.

I've been out to the states to watch the world street finals in orlando over the years and really like the Radial Classes so I'm trying to build my own version.

I dont know of any other mini tubbed 4th generation over here! Would be good to see a few more.

From the outset it was either going to be a traditional small block or LS motor as I ruled out a big block as I thought there may be issues with keeping it cool.

Saying that I brought a complete BMR front end kit which includes the crossmember set up for both small and big block chevys. The kit also included a manual steering rack, lower A arms, coil overs and strange brakes. The kit should shave off 140lbs off the front end.

Getting the procharger to fit in there is going to be interesting as the engine is so far back in these cars, the procharger needs to be moved from its current location. I think up and over the valve cover towards the manifold a bit more as it's looks like it may foul the strut tower. But will play with this once the engine is in the hole so to speak

So now its on to the rear end which will be a Ford 9" with 35 spline shafts and locker.

I'm using all the original OEM pick up points so most parts fit off the shelf.

Will upload more pictures as the project progress.

Cheers chaps

Jay

Your not wrong Dunc.

Plan is to install the engine and see what needs to be cut.

It's going to have a lightweight hood, I like the type that go right up to the windscreen and wrap around to the door mirrors.

So will need to modify the wipers.

Cheers

Jay
