Hi all,

i'm in the process of making a custom hood for my camaro (98-02) facelift shape. It will be made of fibreglass and gel coated in black ready to paint or keep black. I'm incorporating a cowl into it, probably about a 3 inch cowl. I wanted to know if there is anyone interested in them if I make a couple more as I save a little buying material in bulk. If not i'll not bother making the full mould and make a plaster one instead for a one off job.

PM me if you want any info

I'm looking to make something like this and building the plug at the moment.

A consensus on other ideas would be welcome though

Well I could ....

but i'd need a bonnet to cut up and metal work to act as the 'plug'

then I'd have about £600 of materials to produce the finreglass mould of suitable quality to make a direct bolt on unit, and if i'm lucky I'd get one bonnet out of the left overs...all this before even considering my time spent.......

If the funds were there, i'd gladly do one but there would be a lead time of a few months till its ready to bolt on to the car

I'm shelling out the 'start up' costs of the first one and having to get another bonnet for mine (check with breakers - these aint cheap) as I want one. Not counting my time (to make my own bonnet) the material work out slighly cheaper than a $700 hood with the same again cost for shipping and then import tax on top. Hence if I have a quality mould made, I can easily replicate the hood and obviously don't require as much material as the start up.

well if there are people serious about wanting hoods and after i've worked out costings and materials from my hood I would be happy to offer making some.

All I can say for sure now is I aim to produce them for less than £500. When I have looked into the production fully I understand that for a full bolt on unit they are not simply just one or two sheet of fibreglass mat and a bit of resin :?
