Not done a lot since before Christmas. Got knocked off my Harley on the way to work, so that put a bit of a downer on things :(

But I picked up some forged rods and a few other engine parts, and should be collecting some new wheels at the weekend.

Went and picked up a 3.42 posi back axle today, came from a '71 TA. A large front sway bar from a WS6 TA and a full set of seats from a 78. Drivers seat needs new foam and and recovering. Nothing too major.

Can't afford to do too much more now until the my bike is finished, but will be keeping an eye out for other bits and pieces.

Yeah, I am fine, still not got my bike back though which is a bit of a nightmare

Turns out the posi diff is completely knackered. The pinion shaft has welded itself to one of the gears, so isn't coming out of there without being cut.

On a more positive note my new piece of frame rail arrived today and it's now with my mate to be grit blasted before being painted up ready for fitting. Will get it back next weekend, might make a start on removing the other one if the weather's not too bad.

Either that or I'll do some work on the engine if the weather is terrible! And off to the swap meet on Sunday anyway.

Either way, loads to do!

I got the front section of frame rail back. Came up really nice, no bad rust on it anywhere. Just threw some epoxy primer on it to stop it going rusty again

Image

Then spent a couple of hours cutting the rear sections out from my other replcement rails which had just been hacked out of another car. I'll be getting them blasted too next time I pass the blasting place... So now I have all the parts to fix up the rear frame rails properly, once the weather gets better anyway...

Very soon!

Had the day off work for a change, so spent this afternoon cutting out that rotten frame rail. Not as bad as I thought it would be, took about 3 hours and came out in 2 decent sized chunks. Now all I need to do it cut the original rail through in exactly the right place for the new one to butt up to it properly.

Now you see it

Now you dont

Image

The job was made easier by there being so little of the original left

Image

Got to tidy a few details up, then give it a good coat of paint where the new rail is going to fit, then more welding...
