Another quick question! (or 3!)

My '93 3.4L V6 was imported to the UK from Japan. So I'm assuming this is an "export" car?

My old catalytic converter spat its innards out through the back, so new Cat from the states, all OK. Only problem is that a sensor after the cat was taken out. This looks like a thermo-couple rather than an O2/lamda sensor. After a bit of digging I found a page on my CD ROM parts manual that lists a Cat tempertaure sensor for export cars, which would add up as none of the parts suppliers seem to recognise an O2 sensor after the Cat. So has anyone else with an export car had this problem an knows where I can get one from?

Hi. I expect you've sorted this by now, but in case you haven't, I'd give U SAutomotive a try. I had an 'oddball' sensor on a Chevy Dayvan import and they managed to get me one.

I did try US automotive and somewhere else, name escapes me, managed to fine the "correct" one in the US, one of 2 available in the whole of the states! Cost, about £600...

The sensor is a thermocouple that feeds into a circuit that just puts a cat overtemperture light on the dash! One supplier gave me some info on how to use a resistor to "bypass" the sensor and put the light out. I did some reserch and found an exhaust temperture sensor on ebay for £15. This was just a thermocouple, did a bit more research on how to wire it up. A bit tricky as a themocouple isn't a switch, it inputs a signal into am amplifier circuit so it had to be the right way around! All back in the exhaust pipe and warmimh light off!
