Hey guys I’m new to American cars so any help would be appreciated.

Basically the car runs fine when first started but after the engine warms up the car misses slightly when idling and bucks quite furiously when accelerating from around 45mph (but will accelerate). I have tried changing the fuel filter but the problem has persisted. I have read that the cleaning the MAF sensor would might resolve the problem but as my car does not have one I am at a loss. What can I do??

Could it be a split spark plug wire shorting?
Maybe your fuel pump is causing starvation?

Hi while your checking your leads n plugs sometimes you can hear and see them tracking out,try taking the cap off the dizzy and check inside it for condensation and oxidised contacts.

thanks.:) would that that explain why the problem only occurs when the engine has warmed up?

Hi again. Good shout from Wahoo I would think the ht leads would play up from cold, but even when its up to temp at the sensor, the dizzy,s still cold n damp and condensing inside untill it warm. Short trips increase the likelyhood,as it does,nt get hot .That said, next Ide check the throttle pot, this bit alone could cause what you describe on its own along with other sensors on the engine, check there,s no furry contacts or hi joints on any connectors. But whatever the problem is, it will have been logged in the ecu so can be read. This is assuming you,ve ruled out a fueling problem. Hope its of help! Steve

Sorted! I eventually got round to looking at the car, cheked the distributor cap and yea, all the contacts were well oxidised. I cleaned all that crap off and now it runs like new! Thanks to all that helped me. I really appreciate it you helping me bring my wheels back to life! :D
