Hi everybody.
I have recently added another Camaro to my collection.
This is a 1977 LT Camaro Bumble Bee replica that was owned by GM.
This car was apparently built for the GM Press office in Zurich and has covered the press launches across Europe and the UK for Transformers (The 1st film).
They built a few of these but i have been unable to establish exactly how many - This car is numbered 002 on the console.
The car has also been to numerous events in the UK including Goodwood Festival of speed.
If any of you have photos of the car on its travels i would love to have a copy.
These images were taken at GM head office in Luton when i first went to view the car

Work is underway now with the worst bit being the bonnet.
They had fabricated and welded a scoop to the bonnet and had created massive amounts of heat distortion, this had been filled and had started to split as water had got underneath.
I will post some more images shortly.

If any body has any information or photos of these press cars i would love to get as much info as possible

Thanks for looking

Si

Headlining is definately different
Not sure if that will stay.....

Not really had a chance to drive it as it had no MOT or Tax when i got the car.
From what little test drive i did it seemed to run fine.

At least they had spent some money on it:
New Carb
New Discs/Pads and calipers
New Starter

Undernath is solid, i have just removed the carpet and the floor pans are quite good , just some surface rust and a poorly seled patch on the passenger footwell.
All of this is easily fixable.

Should be on the road this year

Si

Unfortunately nothing else interesting

I did try to get them to throw in the Corvette that was next to it at the time.
But they wern't up for that -

Don't know why?????

This was the only press car to make it to the UK for Transformers.
They will be getting the new Transformers Edition Camaro over soon

My contact there has promised to book be for a test session when it arrives......
Plenty of photo's if this comes through.

Si

Hi and welcome
Do please keep us all informed!

I am sure like many we have all the Transformers DVDS and a slow play will reveal all those secrets - like the LS6....?

I am sure that a good photographic record and evidence from whom you bought the car will ensure its long term value from hereon!

Keep us posted PLEASE?

Found this picture on line.
This is apparently car number 001 - This was auctioned off for charity by GM.

I am struggling to find out where it went to.....

Also found this post on Flickr of my car at Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Nice purchase Si  , wow you sure will be busy will all your cars. I see you still have your 79, have you had to let any of the others go, to make room for Bumblebee?.
I see someone in Wigston has a green and yellow 4th Gen, we will be able to start a Leicester / East Midlands Camaro meet / cruise soon. I have seen loads of Camaro's in Leicester all different years, but only know of you and me on here.

Cheers from Luke

Hi Luke
Good to hear from you

Still got all the other cars - Getting a bit tight on room
You will have to come over and take a look at Bumble Bee when you are free.

I know who owns the green/yellow forth gen - her name is Debbie she is one of my mates girlfriend.

Hows your car doing , i hear you have been getting a few bits done.

Hi Si,

Thanks i would like to check out Bumble bee, send me a PM and let me know when's best for you.

Car's going good thanks,

stuff done: new heater matrix, new rear diff seal, new 2.5 inch steel cowl hood, with paint to match, new low profile wipers, new chrome grille, new grant steering wheel and a new gargage built. A busy and expensive first year off owning my first American. I'm also putting together a reconditioned Big Block to go in, when the car's strong enough to take the extra power.

cheers from Luke
