What do people seriously think of this car as I'm thinking about buying it as a winter project. Any idea on the cost for the repairs?

Does look very cheap, but there's a few things to find out to see what it really is.

Loads of people claim there's is a 5.7, but there's more 5 litre ones about in reality. Not sure if the centre console numbers give this away, but sure fire thing is to get the engine block number if possible, which is a bit of a pain. Not the end of the world if it's a 5 litre, but the 5.7's are quicker and hold value better.
Also, need to check it's a genuine IROC, and if it's actually got Tuned Port Injection as the stickers on the bumper say, engine bay shot would give this away, it'll have the big Y shaped intake and aluminium plenum above the engine.

It should have 16" wheels too, I can't tell if they are from the pics.

The repairs could be cheap or pricey depending how much you can manage yourself. The price of the parts isn't too bad if it's only a sensor or 2, and a hinge repair.
If you can't get to see it personally, ask for some more detailed pics of the rough body bits and under the hood.

I'm not a 3rd gen expert, so hopefully others will add more..

Car Details:68 pontiac firebird coupe project car,my aim is a street friendly, lightly modified pro.touring style.
Lowered ,mild body mods,400 cu in SBC engine, Muncie 4speed, 10 bolt posi axle, disc front drum rear.
68 firebird convertible ( long term project) Stock resto/mod style ,400 pontiac th350
For the asking price it could be a real bargain ,always assuming the rust isn't a problem [ and these 3rd gens do rust ! ]
If it wasn't in Scotland I would probably take a look myself...
Even if the injection was totally screwed [ which it probably isn't ] you could simply remove the intake and fit a Holley and manifold for an easy fix .
Worst thing on these cars is the weak 700r4 box-make sure it works correctly or it's an expensive rebuild.

Car Details:1988 IROC-Z, custom interior from the 90s.
The RPO sticker says LB9, which is the 305ci code. http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-camar ... ?year=1988
That's assuming the centre console is the original for the car and hasn't been swapped at some point.
According to the sticker, it should have the LSD and the performance ratio back there too.

An engine bay shot would clear it up though, of course.
As far I can tell, the wheels are the correct 16" ones though.
The rear lights are correct for an IROC-Z as well.
There were certainly 5.0 IROC-Zs made that year, according to http://www.thirdgen.org/1988-chevy-camaro.
But I don't think this is a 5.7 as claimed.

Indeed the 5.0 is still quick enough for most, and can easily be improved on if you want..

My 86 IROC had drum rear brakes, as have quite a few others I've seen. I think the rear disc was an option.

Car Details:"Overdose"
Iroc convertible
Custom airride, SLP exhaust, 20" Iroc rims, Mini tubbed, Everything new or uprated.
Corvette C6 Z06 Brakes,
Procharger on the way.

I have been looking at going for it but the cost of having it picked up is way too much to bother with it, especially if its not a 350ci. I wouldnt buy it without taking a look as it could need alot of work.
