Quite possibly a circle-d rebuilt stall..

Baseline isnt 100% stock as the ECU was reset before the pull so no long term trims. Plus it was a 02 tune with relevant 99 values. So perhaps not a dead stock pull. Still it was better than I thought it would be. As mentioned might auger well for the mods.

Its supposed to be "budget" but Im thinking diff gears, stall, swaybars and shocks to finish it off.. already got a set of C5 wheels to go on for 275 or 285 rears.

Its at Craig Taylor's Dyno Torque shop in Birmingham for the fitting, I think he is going to drop the engine out to make it easier.

Indeed, there are a few donor RX's up there at present. He has 2 x rx8's for 1.8T Audi engine tranplants. The camaro should be a doddle for him ;)

I did my h/c swap by myself and it wasn't a daunting task by any means as long as you take your time to do it. I also did the tune tor my car as well. It's crazy how my car is completely different animal once everything is done. Birmingham is quite a ways from where I live or else I would dyno my car over there. The only rolling road close by here is the shop who did a crap dyno tune on my car.

I'm planning to run my car at the track with road racing suspension set up and see what trap it would do in 1/4.

BTW,

Circle D has good rep in the states. I used Yank stall when my car was automatic. Make sure you use a large aftermarket tranny cooler with your Circle D.

Yeah if I had the garage for the work Id definitely do it myself.
But outside parking isnt the best place to leave things half done. Also Id prefer not to get rain and snowed on :)
But Im with you on the tuning etc, I do that myself as well.
I have a trans cooler somewhere around. So will pipe it up if I go with the stall.. Suspension and Shocks first..

Collected tonight. Wouldn't hold idle of course.

So fired up efilive, flashed in the changes for the LS6 injectors and raised the idle speed and desired airflow (idle airflow)

Still stalled :( So some more idle airflow and it came right. Drove it 100 miles back definately needs more tuning. There is more midrange airflow as I get quite a bit of knock there now, which is a good sign in a way, it means I need to back off timing as cylinder pressure is much higher than before.

Its idling at 800/800 for now. I expect to be able to get that down to 700/750 or so with any luck. There is a bit of cruise control action with the auto trans at that idle speed, but its not too bad.

After dyno results to follow some time in the new year. Plus perhaps an cammed idle clip somewhat earlier :)

Keep us updated. With 243 heads, I ended up with maximum 26-27 timing with 12.9-13.0 AFR. I actually have two tunes stored in my laptop... one with MBT (max timing of 23-24, AFR of 12.7-12.8) and one with what I have now. I want to dyno both of these tunes and see the difference.

Yeah I went with the ported 853 heads in the end. In theory they flow more than the 243's.

MBT is hard to find without a dyno, how did you decide what point MBT was?
My understanding is MBT = MaxBreakTorque/MinBestTiming so the point at which you achieve max torque with the least amount of timing.

A road runner ECU which works in realtime on the dyno is often the best way to get that sorted out. Be interested what each Dyno run does.
I tried 2 tunes on the dyno, one speed density and the other 2002 camaro with 1999 injectors maf based. Both gave the same amount of rwhp.

However Im dumping the maf on the basis that its probably now going to be a restriction.

Looks like about 30% less VE at idle now with the cam at 50kpa, about 15kpa less vacuum than the stock cam.
Im going to have to get a wideband in there. One of the narrowbands is lazy and doesnt start switching until you are actually driving.

With my HPTuners, I can visually compare my runs through the graphs and the time on each runs and changes I make. I can also create custom PIDs for comparisons as well. Of course it isn't as accurate as putting the car on the rollers.

I kept my stock MAF and it flows pretty well for what it is. I've been told it is only restriction when you are start making 500BHP, then you either upgrade to 85mm MAF or Speed Density.
