Sorry, the camaro is the one for me.

If all goes to plan, this one will be saved and I will buy a wreck to base the build on.

Did you find out what the x11 code is?

Now back
what a ferry crossing!

Your car started off as a Fathom Green with Ivory interior and the X11 code shows that it is a genuine SS350

If it is a numbers matching car - in my view is too valuable to cutomise as a pro street- better to find a straight 6 car to cut up ! There are not many genuine SS350s around!

I can provide you with a certificate showing complete decode @ £20 to CCCUK should you wish?

according to this

http://www.chevy-camaro.com/faq/chevy-c ... aq-SS.shtm

its says the X code doesnt gaurantee an SS on a 69.

Also my car has non assisted drum brakes all round and not discs?

That is a very helpful website
It is a conumdrum- fakes are all over the place- we need to match the build date with the build number of engine and chassis

That is why I need to see ALL the details of your car- including a brass rubbing of your cowl plate- per my pm

Does it have a 12 bolt?
It should not have come with drum brakes as original
do you have the engine number?

Technically the X11 code denotes - "Style trim (included on SS350)"
The same way we identify Z/28s in 1969 model year by X33 which technically denotes- "Style Trim w/Z/28"
X55 denotes - "Base Model w/SS350 which would put the matter beyond all doubt!

this car started off in fathom green with a different interior- so clearly has been pulled apart completely
perhaps someone added the drum brakes later
only a full investigation of all the numbers per my pm to you may provide the answer- and in some cases I am unable to determine definitively what the decode is.

Not wishing to stir the pot, but isn't that hugely unlikely ????? Hope it gets resolved.

This could be a fun bit of detective work! I think quite likely someone along the 40+ years has not realised what it is, maybe needed a brake overhaul and just went with what was cheap. Seeing these cars on forums with newspaper used to hold the back of the filler on a fender, i wouldn't be surprised that someone may have knakcered the brakes at some stage and just gone to the scrappy and got whatever they could. Maybe even it fell into a dealers hands who had donor car with drums and fresher interior and hence the change, would have given them a bigger profit margin so why the hell not. who knows, but may be worth inspecting them up close to see if they look like they've come off another car or have been then since factory. Keep us updated, you coudl have something special on your hands! :)

The car has been restored in the past so who know what has happened.

Although the car also has a 10 bolt non pozi rear.

Likely hood of this being a gen SS is slim.
