Thanks guys. Been a bit quiet recently as I have been tied up with other things and I ran out of cash to keep going! Back in action again now though...so here we go!

I am picking up a complete GRP/Carbon front end next weekend (fenders, bonnet, bumper cover and splitter) Needs some minor repairs, but I can assesss that once I get it back here next weekend.

Today I have been making a start on repairing the rotted out lower cowl areas. Done the drivers side this afternoon, and hopefully with an early start tomorrow I can get the passenger side done.

Not a lot left once the rust was cut out. Gave everything a coat of etch primer before starting to weld it all up. I need to replace the sills anyway (hence leaving a hole in the front edge...), so when they are off I will be giving everything a thorough coat of epoxy inside as well.

Spot where I did some welding inside the car...







Job done. Just proper paint and seam sealer to do on this side now once the sill has been replaced

Picked up the GRP and carbon front end today. 360 mile round trip with the bonnet on the roof all the way home



All needs some work and minor repairs, but nothing that can't be done before paint. Its going to take a lot of time and effort to get it fitting properly, I know. But it will hopefully be worth it in the end. Not sure what insurance companies views are on GRP panels?

The fenders and bumper cover are heavyweight GRP and the bonnet and front splitter are wet lay carbon/kevlar weave. Not the lightest way to do it, but its bloody strong stuff nontheless.

Bonnet scoop is fully functional with shroud underneath which will sit over the air filter. Wing vents need cutting out once they have beeen fitted.





Other than that nothing much done this weekend as it was me birthday yesterday

Looks like a great buy, and will save loads of weight off the front end where you most need it. Hope the fit is OK, but by the looks of so far, you're more than capable of making it all go together nicely.

I've been on a lookout or a decent secondhand bonnet for ages myself..

That looks like a IROC or circuit style front spoiler or something similar, but the bonnet has a big drag scoop, so curious what car they came from.. ?

That is too cool - a whole camaro front! ideal christmas tree present Very cool that it's fibreglass - even if it's not a lot lighter, at least you don't have to worry about rust. How did you find this? was it off a breakers? What's the plan, soft blast and respray?

Not sure what they came off to be honest. It all seems to have come off some sort of circuit race/drag car as everything is held together with Dzuz fasteners, and who else would spend the money on enough carbon/kevlar 2x2 cloth for a complete bonnet and splitter?

There is no makers details on any of the panels, all seem good quality though.

All the panels need some filler work before final paint, but nothing major. Will be good to see how they fit in a few months when I start putting the car back together.
