The battery guage on my 4th gen 3.4V6 has dropped form being over 12V to about 9V - I've checked the drive belt and it is there, seems tight and looks fairly new.
so, could it be the battery or is it the alternator?

I revved the car up with the lights on and they do not get any brighter when I rev (which I thought they should if the alternator was working???).

If it's goosed, where best to egt one from?

Anybody got one?

Did the sparky say what was actually wrong with it ?
Had the same problem in my old 87 Camaro and it was the Current Voltage Regulator,
which is inside the Alternator. Cost about £23 if I remember correctly, and was relatively easy to change.

Failing that, give Customville a shout; 020 8590 1449, email; customvill@aol.com
Always had great service from them.
Or Robin at Autopontiac; 0208 894 5930, www.autopontiac.co.uk
Robin does new parts, but breaks as well, so may have a 2nd hand one ?

Good luck mate,

Alan....................

Good result bud,
I am waiting on a set of discs and pads coming from the States.
Half the price of this country.

I get all my parts direct from the US, they are cheaper and get here quicker than most UK suppliers (but there are a few good ones that I've discovered). Really can't see how UK suppliers can justify the huge markup!

Hi,

I've been quoted some very high prices for a few parts I need.

Who do you guys order from directly in the USA?

Cheers,

CHRIS

Hi Chris,

Depends on what parts you are after, and in this financial climate, nothing from the US is going to be that cheap!

RockAuto is a good place though, Classic Industries is another...
