anyone got any advice on original and after market alarms? i seem to have both on my camaro. when i bought it neither of them worked and i don dare mess with them incase i end up immobilizing the car and having a huge headache getting it going again. iv got 1 original GM fob (same as my jeep cherokee) and 2 piranha after market ones. my guess is someones bypassed the original system to replace it with the after market one which has also broken at some point. also the central locking buttons inside the car are dead too, all plugged in but they do nothing. whats the chances of the car becoming totally immobile if i was to put batteries in either of the alarm fobs and try them? any advice anyone? |

can't answer if it'll immobilise the car or not i'm afraid and doubt anyone could without seeing the way its hooked up, i have the gm type which are easily programmable and i found the instructions on the web somewhere, mine didn't work correctly when i got it and didn't seem to consistently lock or unlock the doors but after some messing about i found it was the carbon or whatever is on the reverse of the buttons that makes the contact on the circuit board which had worn out, i found another remote online and swapped the part out and now it works fine, sorry i cant be of more help |
