hi guys! my 3rd gen steering wheel can be pulled down towards 7 0clock.does anyone have any ideas how this can be solved? it seems to be where it moves to ajust the hight and only in that direction. also what is the rod running down the steering column i know one is the head lamp switch but what is the other? thanks |

I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but there is a lever to alter the up/down tilt, and there are some nuts that adjust left/right position. |

If the wheel moves about it sounds like your tilt column is loose. Its a common fault as GM never put thread lock on the bolts, I have done loads of them and its not a good job to do if it is that. You can get to 2 of the bolts for a quick fix easier than doing all 4 but it wont last long. Where abouts are you? |

just spent a good day doing a column change on my rs to solve the prob! takeing them to bits is no fun lol. found the 89 iroc column i swaped with was different so i had to strip it down and swap parts (indicator switch needed to be swaped as it was broken) wish i knew about tighten the bolts as i think they were the problem, couldnt see it when it was in the car! |

Its just the 4 torque bolts where the column bolts to the tilt part. You have to strip it pretty far to get to them. You can strip a bit of it and get to just 2 bolts but it wont last as long so worth going the extra bit. also need specialist tools |
