Post subject:  69 alternator question

Hi anyone changed the alternator on a 69 for a later model with intigrated voltage regulator? i am hoping that a european one might fit ? i can get the later di version but would have to import it.

Yeah, do it to all the US cars I build. Just use similar looking alternator with decent amps rating. IIRC, last one I did on a '69 Camaro was using a Vauxhall Carlton alternator. Trouble these days is finding suitable alternators, used to be loads available but scrappies are closing down and modern cars sometimes have weird electrics. Sure you can buy from Epay but it's better to trial fit stuff before buying and our local breakers used to have a rig so they could test alternators before selling. Wiring up is the sort of thing even Fred Flintstone can manage. HTH
