Hey all,

The trim on mine used to be tan, then was painted black with what i imagine to be rattle cans. (trim was left in the car and just sprayed over). Since it's all out of the car, i want to do a nice of job with dye spray (i have SEM landau black) but i need to get the existing black off. It's flaked n peeled in some places and too heavy /light in others. How can i best get the existing paint off? I was thinking of using cellulose thinners? bit worried about it being plastic and therefore damaging it. What's the word on the street?

Cheers!

Cheers Rocky, me being me, i want to take the "i'll try at home" approach with everything first, and found that nitro mors paint stripper did the trick! started melting up the paint as it was going on, left it for about 5 minutes, residue came off with a cloth and a bit of white spirit, no damage to panels, grain is undamaged, so gona carry on with the rest of it, gonna be seeing a whole lot of tan interior soon! (it's going to to be dye painted black in SEM landeau black).

i was thinking that at first, but wasn't sure if the grain would get damaged, but it sounds like it's ok to do :) Cheers for the input, if the wiring is sorted this week then that's the next thing to finish up, so i'll post pics of how they turn out.

Cheers,

Ray

Ancient thread revival of the week!

I was thinking about refreshing my interior plastic - a lot of it is chipped and old looking. I see you were using the SEM landau black paint that everyone on nastyZ28 talks of. I've not been able to source it in the UK - any ideas?

Or has anyone used anything else that would do the trick?

The paints I used were just aerosols from my local auto paint place.

Bradleys liquid plastic is what I used to do all mine. Seems good stuff.

Meths will take off old dye if it hasn't stuck properly. If that doesn't take it off then it's good enough to coat over.
