My fuel line, that runs between tank and carb, 1 single line, has maybe a year left before it starts leaking from the corrosion, so as it's out now i would like to replace it with stainless line. The current line is 8mm / 5/16th inner diameter so i plan to do a like for like. What i'm struggling with is understanding how to bend the pipe. Pipe benders i'm finding in most places do 6/ 8/ 10 mm but they all list as "for copper". Will these work for stainless pipe / tubing? Or would the tool give up? I cannot for the life of me find anything that will bend stainless line but i know a lot of custom cars have stainless lines. Does anyone have any thoughts / insights on how i can copy my current line into stainless? Cheers!! |

They will bend it, but its tough stuff. Really tricky to flare as well without an expensive tool. Make sure you get annealed tube if you do get it. |

Thanks, that sounds good - i've seen one that says copper and steel, so that will probably be ok with stainless, i'm trying to find somewhere that will stock the tube now. Have emailed a couple of places and asked for annealed i they have it. I've seen a variety of flaring tools too, they dont give too much info of their construction so i'll keep digging to make sure i find a more solid built one. Will keep you updated! Cheers, Ray |
