Hi all, was just wondering if anyone out there has had problems with there rev counter, mine is telling me the revs are really high when they're not, for example on tick over its saying 2500 not 800 or whatever it should be. can they be replaced as a single item or has the whole cluster got to be replaced. can they be calerbrated or any other means of fixing.. its in a 79 Z28. Cheers Paul |

Depends on the type of distributor you have. I'm not sure about the early external coil types, but later HEI distributors with built in coil have one wire that goes to a module on the bulkhead, this has a wire then goes through the bulkhead into the dash loom. On mine this wire broke off the module leaving no tach reading, check this wire is connected properly if you have this type . |

have you tried taking your foot off the gas pedal? Strange issue that, not sure what could be causing it. Stu could be onto something there. I learnt that jiggling wires about helps identify dodgy wiring / connectors so give it a try and see if you can localise the issue and then we can take it from there. Cheers! |

I have this same issue! But with an auto box I really don't see a problem! |
