I've noticed if I'm driving with the window down, or when I've parked up and get out, there's an electric whining noise coming from somewhere near the rear of the car.
Any ideas? Fuel pump maybe?
She's an '88 IROC-Z.

If it whines on for a long time after engine is switched off some say its on the way out but it should be fine. Its when it doesnt make noise that you have to worry.

I'd also say fuel pump but as stated earlier, i wouldn't worry too much unless it stops making a noise.

Well, since I've started this thread, it seems to have stopped. :|
I had a camera in the car with today, and when I got home I was going to shoot something so you can hear the noise... and nothing.
Now shopping online for a new pump & filter.
Speaking of which - any suggested brands?
Does this kit look ok to you guys?

I normally go for original parts but most are ok you will get best deal from Rockauto. If the system is primed it wont run

Isn't the pump in the tank on 3rd gens...? I remember when i had my Iroc I had suspicions of fuel pump issues and it was quite a major job... I could be wrong as it was a long time ago.. :|
