 Post subject: gudgeon pin removal

hi guys iam wondering if iam doing myself any favours. i aproached an engine company who said they could not remove gudgeon pins and save my pistons, theres nothing wrong with the pistons as iam fitting a stroker crank i need to change the pistons too. so ive set about heating the rod and hammering out the pin but... am i weakening the rod with the heat? they are eagle i beam rods so worth more to me than the old pistons. Thankyou.

Well time waits for no man who has no patience. ive beaten them out with heat and hammer, lost the pistons due to scoring by the socket i sacrificed as a punch. not the sort of job i would recommend a bit like taking your kids to the dentist and watching their teeth being pulled.
Not looking forward to fitting the new pistons either, theyve cost me an arm and a leg already what with shipping and all. Will try freezing the pins for a few days and more heat on the rod if the first one shows too much resistance then ill seek professional assistance. Oh nearly burned the shed down too!

Best to take the pistons & rods to a local engineering shop that specialises in engine builds & get them to fit them together. The last thing you want to do is possibly damage the pistons/rods
