Wouldn't you know it?
Back at work after the break tomorrow, so I thought I'd spend today removing the alternator ready to drop off at the rebuilders tomorrow morning.
The top bolt undid really easily, no grief.
The lower bolt was a complete shit and I've ended up chewing out the lugs in the torx head. I've stopped fiddling with it, because I was only making it worse. Tried all the usual tricks, WD40, 3-in-1, tapping it with a hammer - stopped short of lighting the blow torch though.
Next step was to try some mole grips on the head, but the thought did occur that if I sheared the head of the bolt off, I'm stuck.
So I suppose it'll be off to the fixers this week for the alternator issue to be solved and MOT'ing after that.
It was going to be sooo easy...

Quick update on this -

New battery tray is in, they've sealed all the welds and schutz'd it from underneath as well.
New alternator is fitted - got one from a local boat yard's supplier in the end!
MOT'd with nothing to report.
Phew!
