Haha!

Hey Neil, no worries! same here, it's only when you come back on here that you realise how long it's been since you last posted!
Hows the renovation going? Can Santa get down the chimney or is he going to need to wear a hard hat?
So no repaint yet, waiting for this cold spot of weather to go. (today it's 3 degrees out and still frost on the garage roof). I've been taking it easy recently out in the garage, just need to mask off the bottom of the car and take the wheels off, on the first paint job the masking came off one of the wheels and i ended up with red a tyre lol!! it's all jacked up for easier access to the rockers etc so it's pretty much ready.

Good idea on lowering the fan speed of the heater, i have 2 small electric heaters and it takes a while to get the place warm, so good thinking on that, would not like to spend a week denibbing lol.

On the paint cups they only had the 600ml ones, so got those and will take your advice there - will mix up a couple so that when it's time to reload it'll be ready to go. I'll grab a pic of them later today for you, they are currently hiding somewhere.

I think the Devilbiss is JGA, i can't remember the model number off the top of my head, i'll check when i look at the paint cups :)

Polisher pic is below and details:

Soft Start. Variable speed control; 800 – 3000 rpm.
Uses M14 x 2mm thread.

Box Contents:
1 x Kestrel SIM180 1200W Polisher.
1 x 7” Loop Backing Plate.
D-handle and side handle.
Handle attachment bolts (x2).
Spare Motor Brushes (x2).
1 x Allen Key.
1 x Operating Manual.
Product Weight; 3.09Kg (appx).

It has a variable speed controller on the top with 6 stages. The nice thing is that the trigger is on/off as opposed to some polishers having the trigger as the variable speed, so it's more difficult to keep a constant speed and if you do a whole car, you're sure to to get cramp lol. Tested it out on half the door and was pretty happy with it, not noisy at all, reasonably light to hold and seemed well balanced.

For the colour mixing, it mentions about stirring it for 10 minutes, but it doesn't mention about leaving it after mixing. do you think it needs time to settle once mixed?:

COLOUR MIXING
All pigmented paint products should be thoroughly hand-stirred when opened. In addition mixing basics should be stirred for 10 minutes by machine before use. Thereafter mixing basics should be machine stirred twice a day for a maximum of 10 minutes each time.

Cheers and pics coming soon!

Also, blow some out of the airline for a while before you start spraying, as sometimes if the airline has been left on the floor for some time, you can get condensation in the line

cheers...Nige
