Car Details:98 Z28 convertable - Green
Hello all,

I've recently joined and have a 98 Z28 convertible (US spec) in green. I have owned her for over 4 years since she was imported and love her to bits. She has been to Americana & the Corvette Show.

I also had a 2003 C5 corvette but a little one recently arriving has meant that the vet had to go. The wife drove the Z28 before little one, I now have her back again.

I started with an 82 Z28 when I was 17 but couldn't afford it then so sold her after 3 year.

Question: - Can anyone recommend a car seat for the Z28 as Mother care gave up and had nothing suitable? She will soon be able to go forward facing so we can start looking again especially as summer is soon on us. Any advice appreciated.

cheers

I have found the answer to my own question in case anyone else needs to know:-

The UK ones just don't fit but the following chairs from the US do:-

Britax roundabout, Britax Diplomat, Britax Marathon, Britax Decathalon, Britax Boulevard

I have purchased the Marathon and am very pleased. These are all combination seats facing both forward and backwards.

cheers

Howard

How do you mean that the UK ones don't fit ? Is it that they are too wide and sit on the side of the seat bolsters ?

I noticed that with the car seat I have for one of my sons. It would destroy the leather if I used it in the Z28 so until he's old enough to use a booster seat like his brother he's not coming in the Camaro.

I was forced to buy an Escort estate for this reason.

Yes, you are correct the UK ones have a too wide base and just don't seem to sit firmly. They end up sitting on the side of the seat bolsters as you mention and look like a balancing act. As the seats are leather I though it would just kill the seats and just weren't happy with them.

When taking the car to the various shops none were happy at all with any of them fittting. I phoned up the head office's in the UK for various of them and they just said they don't fit.

On phoning Britax in the US they told me instantly that the 5 seats I mention would definately fit (Britax UK had no compatible model and were of no use). I bought the Marathon and found that the seat fitted firmly inside the seat and NOT on the seat bolsters. I bought a seat protector also from Mothercare to protect the leather. It is both forward and rear facing and is very secure. With rear facing the front passenger seat has to be right forward and not sure if an adult could sit in the front and forward facing there is not a lot of leg room if the seat is fully back. I have it fitted all the time(for emergency purposes) but she hasn't used it yet as our little on is only 7 months and was going to wait another few months when she can sit in it forward facing and we can go to the shows. I think in the worse case the wife will have to sit in the back also, but hey with the top down it will be great.

cheers
