No, to get an ss you had to delete traction control option, some had a stock diff and some got the torsen diff

Oh ok, thanks, doesn't take much throttle to break traction on that car even with those big tyres. They are dangerous things--love it!!

Mine has all the toys, bilstein level 2 suspension and torsen diff and handles and grips exceptionally well in the dry, slightly slippy roads and its a pig to control if you touch the throttle, should be stickers in the door jambs and under the bonnet denoting the options it has, or there is an ss register online that might tell you if you enter the bin, lots of clones about though

How do I find out what diff my car has--would it be on the Vin tag?

My car is the genuine article btw--have checked it out on the SS register

Awesome, I'm not entirely sure if I'm honest as I got all the paperwork with mine, I would guess the vin tag though, to get an ss you had to order a new z28 from the dealer and then they shipped it off to slp to be converted, sure there are no stickers in the door jambs of under the hood? Seems odd someone would remove them unless it's had a respray? The extras (from. Memory) were :standard ss had the induction hood and set up and some badges, extras were either level one or two bilstein suspension package, torsen diff, oil cooler and synthetic oil package, floor mats, Hurst short throw shifter, anniversary package graphics, white leather or white leather with hounds tooth centers and a choice of wither 4l60 trans or the t56 tremec manual, should also have the commerative plaque on the dash and 30th anniversary logos on the seats as this was the first year they reintroduced the ss model to the line up after many years of absence, got any photos? Was it the yellow one on ebay a while back you got or a different one? Apparently the boot spoiler was also different

Its SS manufacture number 2286, one of 77 Arctic white T top auto manuals in 1996. Just been out in it, and its a real beast of a thing. Has the plaque near the ash tray and the door jamb stickers and the under bonnet stickers. Its more of a handful than the z28 I had a couple of years ago, and the 275x17 standard wheel tyre set up.

Ive deleted the oil cooler, as I read a lot of negative stuff about it, as well as the smog pump, egr valve, and air con, renewed front and back crank oil seals with the head gaskets. Engine is in really good condition.

The door jamb stickers from slp should list all the option it has like the diff, suspension etc. They have a little more grunt than the z28 due to the forced induction but that pretty useless if all you do is traffic as the air intake temps are clearly hot as can be at the top of the engine, any other power increases you feel are likely due to diff gearing, you said "manual auto"? Mine has an slp lightened and balanced flywheel and also a "jet chip" fitted from slp that gives it an extra 20 or so bhp, the only other mod is a manual fan override so I can pull both the fans in on demand as the temps seem a little warmer than I like when I'm in traffic in the summer

And how much fun are the spark plugs to swap!
