Hi, I am finally getting my grubby mits on a Camaro, a '99 Z28. Should pick it up next weekend.
Can anyone tell me what the provisions for getting home after a puncture are supposed to be on these.
There's no spare, is there.
Also, at some point, I will want to replace the standard wheels, with something a bit 'nicer'.
Any advice as to 'what' and 'where from' would be most welcome.
Cheers.

I have a 1997 and it has a spacesaver style spare wheel in the passenger side rear quarter so I would assume yours has one also? If not a can of the squitty stuff will get you home but also ensure your tyre is useless if ever you get another puncture in it !
With regards to wheels I regularly search camaro on flea bay and there doesnt seem to be a shortage if you are patient , there was a set that looked ok to me but apparently needed rechroming a month back with all good Pirelli P6's and went for the lofty price of£50! As always it depends on your budget though, well done joining the madhouse :lolno:

Yep, you should have a spack saver. It's hidden on the right hand side cover in the boot/hatch.

Wheels depend on your budget. Some nice Corvette Z06 style wheels look nice but they would cost a bomb. BMW have very similar wheels, worth having a look.

Oh and welcome

Hello and welcome ...

Good luck with the wheel search, spare and replacement... :D
I think some BMW M3 wheels fit 4th gens...

I collect the car next weekend, will post pics asap after that, if I can figure out how. The car is red with black roof & T-tops. The wheels are chrome plated and I think they are the original issue. Thanks for the friendly and helpful responses so far.
Any advice on the best insurance deals on these?

chevy-stu, thanks for that. Do you happen to know if that deal with Footman James went through?

All, re the space-saver spare. I called the vendor last night, he is going to look for it today.........don't say it. :)

Just tried putting a pic on here......I think I'm at the bottom of a bit of a learning curve.

Morning buddy, welcome to the club!

I also have a space saver in the 3rd gen, it's the passenger side boot compartment, you wouldn't know anything was in there. Comes with a can of CO2 or whatever it is to inflate it. Pretty cool that it hasn't been ever used. There's a good chance that yours is still there as it's pretty much a hidden compartment.

TopCat was working on the deal with FJ - not sure what the latest is, i guess in the meantime you can get some quotes to get a ball park figure.

For the pics, it used to be a case that you could upload an attachment but we ran into storage space issues after a while, storage space isn't cheap and when you run out, the site goes down too. So we have an alternate method - using a photosharing such as photobucket, flickr, instagram etc. you can upload pics there, then use that image address and paste it in here. Say you upload some pics to photobucket, then find the http:abcdefg . jpg link for the image, copy it, then paste it in here, using the Img button at the top of this box (it will display when you're writing a reply). Pressing the Img button will insert this into your text (without the 3 dots): so in the middle, in between the ][ brackets, paste that link and then it will display your pic when it posts. Hope that makes sense!

How to post pics: When writing a message, scroll down and use the "attach file" option. Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").
