I keep my car outside under a custom size cover with 4 vents at the top. It is not a breathable type of cover but has a lining so the plastic cover material does not directly touch the paint. I try to not leave the cover on for more than a week or so but in the winter this is not always possible.

Micro blisters can be seen on one side of the car paintwork but are absent on the other so I am totally sure if the cover is the cause. I am guessing that in the summer months when the cover was fitted that things got too hot under the cover. Any thoughts?

I know my car has some blisters as do a few other forum members, no i've never had mine under a cover outside and i've had it 8 years now. But it's black and paint get super hot in summer, so thats whats done it. Other members car that have done it are also darker coloured?

Saying that, red can do it too, so I atually think its more a GM trait than the cover causing the issue

Yep, GM paints crap. I have a couple of micro blisters on mine but not noticeable because there are literally 2 of them.

My old 97' had faded silver paint on the roof and wings. I went one holiday for a week and came back to the top of the passenger door lacquer peeling! :wtf:

This one seems to have better paint but time will tell. :roll:

Feeling better as I know it's not too unusual. I'll keep an eye on them to see if the problem gets any worse. Thanks for the comments.

I bought mine (it's a 3rd gen) with a 4 year old paint job (not the best job though to be fair) with no blisters. I then bought a decent breathable cover for it as the T-Tops leak.

It's been under the cover for 2-3 months now (never for more than a two week period without a dry / clean) and it's now literally covered in Micro blisters. I'm not happy, but the alternative is to take the cover off and have the inside go mouldy. It must be the cover that's caused it, I can't see what else it could be.

I'm building a car port in the new year so I can ditch the cover, will then slowly turn the car port into a garage......

I guess I'll need a respray at some point unless there is a way to get rid of the blisters!?!?!?

My advice would be to avoid using a cover unless it's really essential, too late for my car now :sick:

I've been told the blisters can only be removed by taking the affected paint back to nothing and repainting. No good if I carry on using a cover so I might look at local storage.
