The original remote fob (only had 1) that cam with my 95 gave up the ghost ages ago. I found a used replacement on US ebay, that included how to lik it to the car. The fob arrived but I couldn't get it to link with new batterys so assumed I'd got a duff. I bought another from a different seller but again cant get it to link ?? I tried the working unit from my 96 Caprice but same thing ?? The instructions say use a paperclip ect but has anybody actually got it to work ? Or can offer different instructions ? |

I programmed a new fob for my 95 car, I can't remember exactly what I did, but it did involve jumping two contacts together somewhere.I bought another from a different seller but again cant get it to link ?? Both my new and old fobs have the same issue of a ludicrously short range. I have to hold it right in the middle of the door window and even then it often doesn't work. new batteries and change of fob didn't help. |

My 96 has a factory alarm, not sure if this is what you are on about? To programme it you need to remove the radio fuse and complete a few minor tasks but I guess it must be different to yours as I have never heard of using a safety pin, I can find a link somewhere if you want? My alarm fobs were worse than useless with no range as previously suggested so I got another off of flea bay and swapped some innsides about. When you take them apart there are 3 parts , the outer case, pcb and rubber finger pad. The rubber finger pads have some sort of carbon on the back that makes the contact across the terminals when pressed and this wears out and causes the problems as its a poor connection. Just changing the rubber insert has made my fob work from 10meters away now whereas before I would point it at the middle of the window from a few inches away and press or hold it and have to wait on one fob, the other wouldn't even open the doors but would just about lock it and now works perfectly as well |

the 95 has a more basic set up than the 96.
