Sooooooo,
Yesterday a mate of mine was having his M3 tinted and I was going to have mine done at the same time.

Mobile bloke, been doing it 12 years apparently. Did my mates BM fine. Came to do the rear window on the Camaro and he cut it and started fitting it but after 30 mins gave up because he couldn't manage to do it :lolno:

What a gimp.

Anyway, anyone actually seen someone do it on there car? My old Camaro was tinted but it had been done before I bought it.

Not the end of the world and it didn't cost me. His F'up.

Oh and I have googled it and it is possible with one sheet.

Hey Dunc

Tinting flat glass is a peace of wee wee

I have tinted 2 of my motors before the 1st was when i was about 18yrs old on a mini the side windows were fine but the rear window was an absolute nightmare just looked like crumpled tissue paper !!! because the glass is curved in 2 ways

About 2 years ago i did it to my disco again the side windows were pucka an the rear window was 99 times better but still creased a tiny bit in the corners

Ever since ive owned my z28 i keep looking at it thinking one day limo black will be on there but i will def pay a pro to do it due to the curvature of the glass

I did see on company come in an do a vehicle a few years ago and he 1st put it on the out side to get the measured cut then applied it to the inside of the window obviously
Then spent quite a bit of time with the heat gun getting it were it needed to go and get the bubbles out

First thing I did when I bought my 2nd gen 10 years ago was rip the rear window tint off... Couldn't see a thing :geek:

Might be the very shallow window angle, as all my daily drivers have had tints for years and very used to it, but I just couldn't see out for some reason..

I was only going for a 35% tint. Had 15 or 20 on the last Camaro. Could see anything at Night.

Sounded too good Stu, he was only going to charge me 60 quid. To be fair me and my mate had a good laugh watching him attempting to do it

That would have been a good deal if he got it done hey

Im still going to get it done one day as the rear screen is very big and personally will look better if its limo blacked out

Im prepared to struggle with it as 99% of the time as im only interested in going forwards :D i guess it would be like trying to reverese an old lambo countach  :lolno:

Its way down the list of things to be done tho :(

I tinted the rear and sides of the 2nd gen, 35% sides, 50% rear. Was too dark for me and the rear was ok, but still creased in some areas. Sides were easy enough to do. Decided to undo it, take it to a place in Reading, really nice guy, did a good deal as the glass was out of the car. Went with 30% rear instead of 50%, much better and no creases on the rear glass. He said that the 2nd gens are like a certain porsche (944? i'm clueless when it comes to porsches, sorry) and said they are the most difficult to do due to the heavy curvature on the sides. He managed to pull it off without any creases, so you should be able to find someone decent enough to do it. Sounds like you're going to do it yourself? Hair dryer and a good squeegee and some patience :) 3m do a teflon squeegee for a few £, will help with not scratching the tint, if you don't already have one.
