Hi all, I just bought a cheap scanner hoping it would work on my Z28 but it says it can't connect which is dissapointing. Does anyone use a scanner and if so which one please? Thanks Alex |

Oh darn I have the u480 and it didn't work. When I plugged mine in, it powered up, then started trying to connect using CAN and the others, and then after about a minute in total it said error. Did yours take a while and then work? Thanks |

I've just read on the internet that VPN is the protocol. Mine takes only a few seconds to move through VPN to CAN and then it takes a while over the others. The scanner does sound like theres some loose connections inside as it rattles when you shake it but it does power up. Ok wait a second, Ive just realised something. Mine is a CAN U480, but the Camaro uses VPN as a protocol. Do you think that is the reason why? The scanner has VPN come up first but it goes onto CAN almost immediately. |

Possibly right. Well, it looks that way although I can`t be certain. I know the 380 worked on mine. I don`t actually have the reader I just wanted to see if it would do anything on my OBD port. I was thinking of de catting mine and was wondering if the engine light would come on with the decat pipes so was thinking I could eliminate it with this thing but haven`t bothered. Probably better just getting the MIL eliminators. To be honest I`m kinda of the the `If it aint broke don`t fix it` mentality so I probably won`t bother. Ive just realised something. This confirms the U380 choice http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/U380-Car-truc ... 4ac8ddc684 quote "U380 Car truck OBDII OBD2 Memo Scanner DTC Trouble Codes reader for Chrysler GM GM '96 - Current Year (OBD-2)" |

Actually its VPW I think. If you want the top of the line I have efilive units in stock. But they are not the cheapest out there. Though you can also use them to log and tune the ECU etc. The scan license is in the £300 range. |
