Hi all,

What spark plugs do I need for my LS1?

I am seeing variants, such as Variant1 and Variant2.

Which one do I want?

Also any other tips re spark plugs for the LS1 would be helpful.
Bosch seems to be common.

Thanks

Alex

Most searches reveal NGK TR55 as the top choice for Ls1 F bodies providing you`re not running gas or FI etc.

Thats what I was going to buy but with only 18000 miles on it, it runs spot on and the hassle of the change put me off. Its a big job seemingly involving lots of swearing and faffing about. I`ll hold off till next service :shh:

OK I am struggling to find them.

I have found some Bosch ones, but it says variant1 or variant 2.

Anybody have any idea which variant I should get?

1 or 2?

Thanks

Alex

hey Alex,

How many miles on your car?

Just done a bit more reading there. There`s 18,000 miles on my car. There`s absolutely no way I`ll be changing the stock plugs as long as I have the car and it`s running well. According to my manual it says they`re due to be replaced at 100,000 miles. Ok, that sounds a bit lengthy BUT there`s NO WAY I`ll even put 10,000 miles on it as long as I own it so I can forget about plugs.

Hiya,

My car has 157,000 miles on her and the plugs were last changed at 102,000 miles according the receipts/service history I have so I figured 55,000 miles was good enough and time for a change.

Has anyone changed the plugs on a LS1 and can point me in a good direction?
The variant 1 or 2 for the bosch plugs seems to be in the gap of the spark plug, 1mm or 0.040 inches seems popular in the states so I might go for that set.

Thanks

Alex

My Denso Platinum plugs arrived today so if I can figure out how to upload pictures on here I will post up pics of the old plugs vs the new plugs when they get changed out on Saturday.
