Can someone please tell me how to remove the front grill. For the life of me I cannot find out how to get it off. Mine is the euro model with the Uk stye plate in the middle. Both ends of the grill will pop out from thier clips but the middle is firmly fixed. I have tried to pull it but I am afraid I might break something. Please Help, thanks |

Hows it goin?Mine is the euro model with the Uk stye plate in the middle. Both ends of the grill will pop out from thier clips but the middle is firmly fixed. I have tried to pull it but I am afraid I might break something. Please Help, thanks Grille? Man, no secret, its brute force that involves a bit of serious pulling down and up. If you start on the outside bottom and work your way in that seems the easiest route. Take of your number plate first and as you`ve found the outside one bottom clips come away really easy. Theres 3 on the bottom and three on the top. The bottom ones are easy, just pull hard and the pop out. The top ones will take a bit more effort and I used a hacksaw blade carefully on its own while lying on the floor but I just hauled like hell in the end.. They`re a different attachment on the top and when it breaks you`ll see that they weren`t meant to come off by accident and you`ll hear the tabs falling down the back. As long as you don`t plan to put it back on thats the answer. Just pull hard on it. Your bumper will be fine. . Once its off the car automatically looks better but you`ll need to T cut to get the 14 year grime off. You planning a new grille or the grill `less` look? Brian |

Thanks for the info guys. The reason I was trying to get the grill off is because I wanted to relocate the number plate lower. My plan was to put it on the bottom part of the skirt so that it protrudes beyond the bodywork. That way if I was to touch anything when parking or anyone touches me it would be the number plate that takes it and not the bodywork. So yes I would want to reuse the grill. The backing plate of the number plate seems to be fixed to the inside of the grill so the only way I can see to get it off is to take the grill out. Attachment:
Any further info would be great. I would also like to see what it looks like under the number plate.

Well I got it sorted. It occured to me last night that the number plate had to be stuck on due to there being no bolts (not rocket science). Anyway I gently pulled off the number plate and the backing plate was riveted to the grill. So I drill them out pulled it off and cleaned up the grill. I made up some brackets and re-fitted the backing plate where I wanted it, stuck some polished stove bolts in the old rivet holes. All I need to do now is to get some doublesided tape to stick th number plate back on. I didn't realise that the 'Camaro' mark was on the front grill. I've seen it a few times on cars but I thought it was a replacement. If I'd had know I would have done it years ago. At least people can now look at the car and will know what it is . Now must order some emblems to fit like the rear ones. |

well too late as youve already done it now but looks a good job. I was more inpressed with the fact the front bumper behind the grill has camaro on it too, hence why i removed the grill and had the holes filled. Just need to get those massive silver bolts of yours touched up black. I can have a quick look about too, as I might have some spare inserts |

Thanks Maudy, I went to my good old local Halfords and got some double sided tape and also some black plastic gromets which fit perfectly, It looks alot better now. I'm happy with it The letters for the front are available from the US for $32 plus $42 shipping or $36 and $34 shipping. It's a real rip off. I would then have to pay £16 for tax and hanling charges. I got caught out last time when I got the letters for the rear panel. Will have to keep trying. |

Thanks Ferdi, I didn't relise the 'Camaro' was behind the grill as well. You learn something every day. That is strange that your intakes are blocked. Mine are completely open and vent upto the radiator and air intake. |

So cheap cheap...too a while to come though PS . Its funny you are all putting your plates there ...........I did that 5 years ago and didnt like it after a while so move to small side motorbike style one |
