I took off the MTI induction lid that has been on the car for 10 years to reveal probably the dirtiest filthiest clogged up K&N filter I`ve ever seen in my life :o . So much for the advert........"serviced every year regardless". There was a field load of soil/oil and a hive of dead bees and flies in the air filter alone. How that car was breathing is beyond me. :o

I`ve ordered a replacement paper filter as I`ve read umpteen times there`s nothing to be had by an oiled washable one.

If that`s the air filter I can assume the fuel filter is due changing so one of them is en route. Oil and oil filter as well.

Is there anything else needing doing or checked that anyone can recommend that I haven`t included?

cheers

there is actually a dyno test of the k&n on the ls1 and it is proven 7-10 hp. Usually I dont believe the hype but in this case its definitely better. Plus you CAN wash it (i do mine every 5000 miles).

Oil and filter
Fuel filter
Air filter
Diff oil ? upto you
Lithium white grease for doors and hinges and bonnet hinges etc
Check rubbers on anti roll bars and rear control arms

Cheers Luke.

Honest to fog mate the panel filter is beyond washing. I reckon that has never been cleaned ever. I think it would need boil washed

7-10 hp? Seems high for a panel filter. I`ll maybe invest in another one. Thing is, I`ll have the paper one tomorrow and at £9 its hardly an expense. :)

no prob, seemed I could never get a paper one for cheap, always £20 so I just got a K & N at £55 and a cleaning kit for £9 and be done with it. I service it so much that I save money ahaha :D

Fuel filter arrived today. FRAM. I`m guessing that`ll do the job?

Going to buy some oil. 5-30 seems about right. :chevy: :chevy:

yeah 5w30 is the stuff. make sure its FULLY synth and not the hydrocracked fake synthtic.

I usually use GM DEXOS 2 - the local dealer always sorts me out with a better than retail price as I use them often. If not I have been using AC delco 5w30 lately from another dealer who beat GMs prices :D
Dont buy into the i'll get magnetex or whater crap, its all the same as long as its the right grade
