hi all, i have a 95 Z28 and ive lost the keys. i have a spare toad alarm fob that opens the central locking so i can get into the car, my question is does anyone know if i can just replace the cylinder & key from a breaker camaro, or does it need reprogramming? or is it easiet to get a new cylinder and blank keys from rockauto? the cylinder from rockauto http://www.rockauto.co.uk/catalog/morei ... cc=1035908 only has blank template keys with it so i dont know who can program them as they wont start the car due to the VATS.... any help will be apreciated as im kinda stuck |

ive done some more searching and i think ive found the answer... i buy a new cylinder and key from rockauto, then i find the resisance value of the origninal passkey using the resistor trick. once found i order a new blank passkey from the states and get it cut....phew! easier to type than do...... lesson learned is get a spare cut or at least get the value of the resistance on your key..... any help or suggestions on an alternative method will be apprieciated cheers |

You can get a new key based on the VIN anyway without a new key barrel |

Thanks for the replies, Ringram - any idea where I can get a key based on the VIN? The Only other thing is the car is a jap import don't know if that would make any difference regarding the vin? Cheers |

as the others, do try Bauer millet first as they were and stil are a UK supplier. The jap import still came from the states originally and all VINs will be on a database. Have a good rummage in all coat pockets etc though and check under units, I lost mine a while back (but had a spare set) then found them under a massive pile of stuff I have been waiting to sort out :S |
