Post subject:  How rare is a 5.7 1998 or onwards Manual going to be?

Hi all,

I thought I would see just how rare a 1998 or newer model 5.7 with a 6 speed manual transmission would be as I have seen maily autos advertised with the 5.7s so far except for maybe 2 in the last few months, one had no leather and was an older style and the other was great and then was sold and moved to NI

My ideal car would be

Year, 1998 or onwards, I do like the facelift they gave the cars in 1998 so 1998 or onwards
LS1 engine
6 speed manual gearbox,
Leather interior
Colour, don't mind as they all look good so far
Mileage, lower the better but again can't be picky
Price, I am happy to hold out for the perfect model and if it means spending a bit more then thats fine.

General thoughts on how rare this ideal car for me might be? Anyone interested in selling me theirs if it meets (or kinda meets) the above specs lol :P

Thanks guys

Hi, Here's a few numbers for you. These are the number of V8 Camaro's with LS1 engines and manual six speed transmission made

Year Z28's Made No. Sold in UK SS's Made Sold in UK

1998 6222 30 1563 0

1999 6658 82 2647 0

2000 7957 17 4772 0

2001 5206 18 3512 0

2002 1720 10 1297 0

So if you want an SS it would have to have been privately imported. The UK Z28's would be just as rare as an US SS.

Here's one in Ireland http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4024539.htm

Hope this helps and good luck with your search.

I know of a beautiful green convertible that is lovely, reliable and has parked next to the March Hare at shows and is for sale. Buy Mine, Buy Mine, Buy Mine.... She is a brilliant example.....

Hi All,

Yes that the was one that got away, now in NI! That was a sad day for me.
Howie, thanks for the chat and I will email you soon.

Thanks for those numbers, that is very interesting and yes I can begin to see how rare the creature that I am wanting is.
For those numbers, is there any way of knowing about the transmission type as well?

Thanks

LS1s aren't rare as you think. Vauxhall came with one and I believe it is offered with the same manual tranny but different gearing.

Hi,

All the numbers were for M6 manual gearbox's only.

I tried to attach the file I have but it won't let me download a pdf file. I'll keep trying.

OK, here's a link to all the data you can eat

http://ls1tech.com/forums/chevrolet-cam ... downs.html

Scroll down to the second posting and click on the 98-02 pdf file. You can download the file to your own computer if you wish. It's a good forum for information.

Hope it helps.
