Post subject:  Std Audio Unit - Ipod connectivity ???

Hi All
Just wondering if any of you have Ipods/Mp3s connected to your Std audio head units
If so how do did you connect it up ???. I remember finding on fleebay some little unit which used the auto changer wiring also reading bits an bobs from the net but that was before i had my z28
also thinking parrot bluetooth may work ???
I havent taken the head unit out yet to even see what kind of connections are at the back and also want to keep the orignal unit in there even tho it would probably be easier to fit after market head unit with usb/3.5mm jack already init.
Sorry if this topic has already been covered

Cheers

Stu

I got talking to a fellow Z28 owner at a car meet recently and he gave me this link: http://www.ipodcarpros.com/ and the item number: PA11-GM45.

I haven't got round to checking this out, but apparently it's defo worth a look and they ship to the uk

I hope this helps.

I know that it's not exactly what you were talking about but I have recently bought one of theses Sat Nav's and it has a Fm feature. You can download loads of music from your computer onto the Sat Nav and then you tune in the unit to the same frequency on your radio and then all your music is coming through the car radio system, plus of course you have the Sat nav plus a load of other features. I bought the 5" model with 8Gb memory and Iv'e found it all works pretty good and for £50'ish you can't really go wrong.

Hope this is of some help

There is a kit you can buy in the states. I have one in my camaro now however it will only work if you have 12 disc changer available for your car. Reason being is it will hook up to that pig tail to replace the 12 disc changer.

of the ipod specifically you can get the freq tuner and tune the radio into the station and tbh the uality is pretty good and lets you listen to all your ipod tracks with radio or better quality (for comparison)

the other, which maybe more for mp3 players etc rather than ipod, is a tape that has a 3.5 mm jack in the side where you plug the player into and it will read through the tape slot.

again, fleebay best place to check as you know.

I've not had the stock unit out , so maybe there are adaptors at the rear ??

Cheers guys for all your info on this
maudyz28 i have a freq tuner already but in the camaro i have to hold the freq bit on the audio unit to get no interference
benez28 you have in your car what tonythedon put a web link at the top of this thread the only difference is the one tony suggested is it can still use the cd player i.e press aux button once you get cd player press aux button x2 you get ipod operation
ps still havent bought it yet as going on me hols in 4 days time !!!!
