A month ago I put a friend of mine onto a 08' Mustang V8 I knew was for sale at a bargain price and he bought it. Very nice black one, lowered with 18" bullet style wheels.

So I met him at a car meet a few weeks ago and we had a little 'shootout' on the way back home.

Duel carriageway, sat at some lights at a roundabout with him behind me. Foot flat to the floor. Defo pull a good few car lengths on him. Get to big speeds and he says he chickened at 135 where as I kept me foot in till 155. me!

Anyway slow down for the next island and let him catch up. Side by side on the next straight from 30, both full bore, nowt in it till a ton then it's game over for the Mustang.

I think that the A4 in the Camaro doesn't help as it doesn't kick down into first when your over 15mph. Plus he's got a five speed auto.

He learn't his lesson, don't mess with a Camaro!

Anyone else got any fun stories?

As this is a public forum, I thought I'd better clarify that your Mustang incident all happened on a closed private road of course, because I'm sure you'd never go those speeds on a public highway in the UK... ;)

Why of course, and I also didn't state the type of measurement to cover myself! ;)

I tried to race a Porsche GT2 with my h/c/i camaro... on the wet road. Needless to say I got my butt handed on a platter with my car spinning the wheels at launch vs the GT2 AWD. It was a good try on my end... wish it was on a dry pavement.

GT2, yep thats gonna be a hard one to beat. Had a go against a Carrera 4 when I used to commute and occasionally we would have a bit of a race. Surprisingly not that much in it. When I looked into it's specs, 2004 model it only had 270 foot pounds of torqure, pfff is that all!

No substitute for cubic inches

around 12 years ago, i had a 1978 Z28 with a pretty hi po 350 and a 4 speed, with a 2.4:1 diff.
I had been on a run out locally, and when i came to a long stretch of straight road, i thought i would "stretch her legs", so dropped it into second and nailed it, right through second, third and fourth, reaching 5500 rpm in top (this is where i bottled it as it was all over the road).
The autometer speedo was reading 170 mph.......allowing for speedo error, i reckon i was doing an honest 150. Anyway, i brought her back down to legal speeds and as i approached a roundabout, noticed in the rear view mirror a rather white volvo with interesting roof rack !

Sure enough, as soon as i was off the roundabout, on came the blues !

The following conversation between myself and the officer is almost verbatim

cop "is this your car sir?"

me "yeah"

cop "what is it?, is it a trans am?"

me "no, it's a chevy camaro "

cop "is it fast sir ?"

me (not admitting anything here) "err....it can be "

cop "WELL JUST KEEP YA F### SPEED DOWN, I COULDN'T CATCH YER !"

I swear on my kids' life that this is true, and the cop must have been parked up in a layby as i shot past him at mach 1, and by the time he caught up with me enough to clock me, i was back under the limit and he couldn't prove anything, BUT he just wanted to "mark my card" as it were !!

I'm way more careful about motorways speeds now..

I think pushing much into 3 figures in the Uk... unless you're 99% certain there's absolutely no-one about.... is chancing serious points nowadays...
