Its me again, another minor problem,

Wondering if anyone has had a similar problem to this?
I think I know where the water is coming from, just don't know how to stop it!!
When its been raining and you open the boot (trunk), water slids off into two channels on each side of the car inside the boot, which then runs off down into the space where the lights are located.
Seems a weird way place to drain it to, but.....
Any ideas anyone??

Kind Regards
DS

Mine does exactly the same, I'm sure it's designed that way and is not a problem. When it's raining it's always best to park on a level is you can but if not have the rear end going down hill otherwise if it's a real downpour and your parked with the front faceing downhill the water cannot run away and runs inside the boot area by the rear speakers.

Hope this is of any use.

Hi

Similar prob!

It seems to get into the trunk lid - either side there seems to be a join about 1/2 way along. I get the same problem when I wash it.

Temporary cure - only open the lid a few inches and let it drain into the body channels. It then drops through the gap at the back above the light units.

Permanent cure, not sure yet - maybe some clear mastic into the joins?? Clear mastic into the light units - Have to say though I get no water in my lights.

Any thoughts?? :? :? :?

Hi seen similar problem on other yanks if you can coat the top of the light with clear silicone (lay a bead of silicone dip your finger in soapy water and smooth it on the join in the lens ) and with a very small drill bit drill a very small hole in the bottom of the lens on the outside ,then if any more water dose get in it can drain out and also stop it condensating inside of light hope this helps Cheers Neil  PS make sure that its bone dry before putting on the silicone.

i had a rear light that was filling with water, as i couldn't find where it was getting in I drilled a small hole in the bottom of the light so it could run out which worked a treat!
