Hi all quick question.
My 97 z28 starts up fine when cold.
After a drive of a couple of miles if you turn the ignition off and try to turn her over while warm she turns over really slowwwwwwwwww. She catchs but for a moment you think oh ohhh.
Is this just a lazy starter that needs reconing?
Cheers Steve.

most likely the starter is suffering from heat soak, (VERY common on the smallblock chevy)
the only real option is a new starter, preferably a smaller hi-torque one, and to be on the safe side, i would use a heat sheild on it too.

It all depends on whether the starter mounting bolts are staggered or inline, what i will say is, steer clear of the cheapo ones that you see advertised for about £100, they are just that and wont last long.
Instead, get a good quality one such as a powermaster unit, from a reputable dealer (Eadys autos / real steel / auto pontiac etc.(probably cost around £250). This type should last for the life of the car. heat sheilds can be bought for a few quid from most suppliers, and are a doddle to fit.
