I've got a 1994 Z28 and the 'Service Engine Soon' light has come on. Does anyone know who can run a diagnostic check on one of these in the South Yorkshire area? I don't mind a bit of traveling if necessary! Cheers, Mel |

Thanks for that I found out earlier that a friend of a friend might have the right scanner, so fingers crossed. I was talking to Dave Billadeau today and he said Rodley Motors can handle 4th gen but charge £60 per hour + vat! Cas-Am can diagnose too so i should be able to get something sorted. |

Interesting, but it's not a matter of just resetting it: There's a fault somewhere as it now needs about 5 seconds cranking before it fires. The fuel pump relay seems to be priming the injectors and the car runs fine. The odd thing is that the cooling fans start immediately and stay on. The previous owner said it did the same thing about a year ago and the garage found the air pump fuse had failed. They also cleaned out the pipework and this somehow 'cured' the problem! As the air pump is only there to warm up the cats it must have been a coincidence that it worked? As soon as i can get the codes checked things should be clearer maudyZ28, just seen your post on the yank forum! Sorry about giving the impression i've had the car for ages: i bought her on thursday! I joined the other forum earlier in the week but use the name 'Oversteer' as i thought i might get lynched if i mentioned Mopars |

haha, i figured you just bought it about an hour ago at the leeds meet, spoke to a guy who was interested in the car, and out of coincidence remembered this post and the 94 with SES light, like the one for sale. so far this is what the replys are: http://camaroforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52456 |

I know buying a car with the ses light on and not having the fault code(s) is a no-no, but the seller, Chris, is a top bloke and has really taken care of the Zee over the years. It's really clean and drives so well i'd be amazed if there was much wrong with it. At only £2000 it was worth taking a chance. Looks like the scanner my mate was talking about is 0db2, so i reckon i'll be off to Cas-Am sometime next week. I'll keep an eye on the other forum and see what happens. Cheers, Mel |

yeah for that price you cant go wrong for a car in good nick, if it drives fine then i'd be putting a post-stick over the light and all will be fine hahaha |

Ah yes, the "if i can't see it, it ain't there" aproach to car maintenance Sounds like my Uncle Alan who 'cured' a strange noise he had in his car by turning the radio up Edit: Seems like my luck is out as usual: My mate Dave has just been here and the scanner is obd2 only Can't get the codes now until later this week. Rodley want £85 and Cas-Am £25 to run a diagnostic. Guess where i'll be going... |
