Looks like I have a fail lifter(s). I'm gathering funds to replace what I can, lifters and pushrods. Since the heads are coming off, might as well replace them w/ 243/LS6 heads. |

oh no that sucks dude, did you bring any parts with you or can you get them shipped cheaper. Also I know a guy who might have some new ones about if you want me to ask him? or you could try http://www.partsworldperformance.com/ think they do lifters for about £300 shipped? LS6 heads are quite hard to come by over here, my pal got some for a steal but need cleaning up. I've been wanting some too Let me know how it goes? do you just think its one lifter and does oil change and that not help ?? |

It's either one or two. I'm not going to replace just one though... LS7 lifters aren't that expensive at all, I'd say ~ $150 for the set. Heck if I'm cracking the engine apart, might as well go big or go home. LS6 heads are quite hard to come by over here, my pal got some for a steal but need cleaning up. I've been wanting some too Let me know how it goes? do you just think its one lifter and does oil change and that not help ?? I've decide to go either new full LS6 longblock, which I haven't seen anyone that sells them reasonably cheap... do a cam/stock 243s heads with supporting valvetrain mods. I'll check out that link that you posted but I've been asking around in the states to which could ship me these goodies sans duty tax through USPS mail in the states. My boss just OK'd me to use my shop's big garage to do my little project as long as he can help... I'll be buying parts/tools/equipment to do this tasking. This should be fun and expensive. |

sounds good, idk if I would personally do a long block swap, you might as well buy a new engine for the cost? I know texas speed performance will ship things at a reasonable cost, just remember that getting into UK past customs you may need to pay VAT and tax (unless you get it thought the military) its always nice to have a garage to work in, heck they might even have some of the tools you need?? how does a H/C swap sound if your bottom end is ok. You wont have to pull the engine then. some mice stage 2 LS6 heads, and a healthy cam with LS7 lifter, hardened push rods, roller rockers, double timing chain, LS6 ported oil pump and you should be good to go for $2500 ish + shipping |

dude - I feel like I need a cold shower after reading that!!!! Seriously though I watched/heard the vid over on the ls1tech forum and have to say that it doesn't sound too disimilar to what I can hear on mine - though in fairness it isn't as noisy and only occurs under load when cold... sit there reving the motor in park and it sounds fine |

why have you got some top end noise too waylander??? lifters usually tick on idle and from what you suggest, it sounds like you are experiencing a little knock under load???? has it been tuned or fiddled about with in any way, ie spark advanced?? |

bugger me - one of these days I'll learn to do this sort of stuff when I'm not at work and can explain properly without talking bollox driving off normally (as if the plod were there!!) it just clatters a little for the first mile or so and then slowly disappears, when warn nothing (except a screaming zorst!!!).... not really canned it from cold |

I just dropped some pretty penny on EPS 222/226 cam, LS7 lifters, hardened pushrods, Comp cams 918s. All I need to get a set of LS6/243 heads, LS6 oil pump, LS2 timing chain/gear, miscellaneous bolts/gaskets and seals. Texas Speed should able take care of me w/ everything else minus the LS6 heads. |
