Nice car mate, and welcome! My commute is about 20 mile each way which adds up in fuel for a V8 otherwise i'd love to commute in my Camaro. How do you find the V6 for economy and power? |

again welcome (posted in general chat) my V8 is my daily driver, drive to leeds and back every day about a 30 mile round trip. Staying off the go pedal (most of the time) returns pretty good economy. But camaros are not really about economy anyway. I'd be interested to see what the V6 does |

I had heard the LS1 returned better economy than the LT1. I certainly dont get those figures in mine! Camaros certainly aren't about economy though like you say. Definately not why I bought mine. When I do use it for work I never seem to come across the chavs in their little pimped saxo's etc Nice to scare them with a thundering V8 roar when I do though :-) I'm actually pretty careful on the road, I did have some sport last week though with a guy in a Jag XKR. Gave him a shock before we went our seperate ways lol |

LS1 is a masterpiece of an engine. I dont think mine will be getting good economy next years with heads and cam, big stall and high gears in rear hahaha. All the pimped up small cars wanna race in towns which is a no no in a 300+ hp car, plus they would win as i'd just spin wheels up going into 1st gear . Motorways are good but just sometimes the auto gearing is a nightmare, at 80mph it wont drop to 2nd and 3rd is so long the other cars sometimes pull on you (usually manually drop it). Anyway when driving like that im lucky to get double figures. Best mpg I did was 2 gallons in 22 miles |

I think we have hijacked this thread! Sorry jtotheb! I've been considering heads and cams for mine. I don't fancy doing it myself and the labour costs are a little high (and the parts aren't cheap). I sometimes wonder if my car has already had work done, looks fairly stock apart from the intake. Certainly moves though. I might stick it on a dyno before I get anything done..... |

My 98 5.7 (auto) is my daily comute (70 miles per day) and was my wifes company car for a couple of years. She gets around 24mpg in winter and slightly better in the summer around 26mpg. The auto's aren't as good as the manuals... Even driven hard wont go under 20 mpg. I would be interested to know what mpg the 3.6L does. |
